Volunteers – About Us
“We” are Austin private citizens from all across the city who long for the Norwood House to be restored and returned to the people. This website is mostly a reflection of the most recent organized effort, by the nonprofit Norwood Park Foundation formed in 2012. The org had a strong grass-roots history and evolved from several previous efforts to save the house by groups such as the South River City Citizens, the Women’s Chamber of Commerce of Texas, and the Norwood Posse. NPF’s first president and many of its board members were longtime residents of Travis Heights, where the house is located. An all-volunteer Board of Directors and hundreds of supporters, donors and volunteers participated in the project during the 10-year NPF effort. You know who you are and we thank you! There remains strong sentiment amongst many Austin residents in ALL districts to restore and repurpose this potentially revenue-generating publicly owned historic asset.
