Week of February 10, 2014

2014/2/12 21:00:57

Week of 02/10/14 – Closer and closer…that’s what we’re getting to THE BIG CLEAN-OUT. Our term for toxic abatement & total cleanup of the Norwood house. This “winter of our discontent” can’t be over soon enough; we’re on the last steps before crews get into the house and start removing the mess of the past 30 years. Imagine how exciting it will be to take down plywood that’s been covering those fabulous windows! Light will absolutely flood that space that’s been dark for so long. And the amazing view of Austin from the Norwood tract will once again be restored to the house. Can’t wait.

In the meantime, local caterers are stepping up to help us plan the Norwood kitchen, we’re preparing to select a landscape architecture firm to partner with us, and we’re getting the wheels rolling on fundraising. Alert: there may be some joyful noise from the site in the coming weeks – rather loud joyful noise. We need a new geotechnical report for the site in order to make sure the foundation is rock-solid; that means drilling some core samples. Our apologies in advance – the noise won’t last long and the result will be worth it!
